Malam Nasir El Rufai, Kaduna State Governor, on Monday signed the N259.25 billion budgeted for the state in 2020 into law.

According to the governor, N184.1 billion or 71 percent of the total budget was allocated for capital projects.

He said N75 billion was earmarked for capital expenditure in the education and health sectors, saying the budget would reinforce the government’s commitment to growing human capital and promote equal opportunity.

Speaking after signing the 2020 appropriation bill into law, the governor praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for efficiency and working the executive arm of government to realise the administration’s policies and programmes.

He added that the present state assembly is the most productive in state history as they passed more than 80 bills into law.

The governor specifically thank the House Speaker, Aminu Shagali for working to improve the fortunes of the state, noting that “this is a measure of his leadership qualities.”

In the signed budget, recurrent expenditure was N75,145,220,027.38 while N184,105,599,706.28 was allocated for capital projects.
