- Sowore Free, Federal High Court Grants Sowore Bail
Omoyele Sowore, the RevolutionNow convener, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
Omoyele Sowore, however, will submit his international passport to the court within 48 hours as part of his bail conditions. Sowore was arrested on August 3, 2019, ahead of his August 5th RevolutionNow protest.
Sowore had called for a nationwide revolution in August, demanding for the implementation of the new minimum wage, protection of lives and properties and others.
He said: “We want this country to experience a revolution and we hope that everybody that is watching and listening to us all over Nigeria will be getting ready.
“These people have no plans for us. They have no agenda or vision for this country. As a result, we’re going to take our destiny in our hands.
“So, we came here today to give you a small bit of what will be happening as we align with our colleagues, other revolutionaries both in Nigeria and outside of Nigeria.”
However, given this administration modus operandi, it is unclear if the DSS would obey the court order or not.
