The Central Bank of Nigeria Pensioners’ Welfare Association, National Secretariat, has congratulated the Governor, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, on his re-appointment.

In a letter by the association, to Emefiele titled, “Congratulatory letter on your re-appointment as CBN governor for a second term,” the CPWA stated that the reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, and his confirmation by the Senate, showed that his overall performance during his first term was very satisfactory.

In another letter by the association to Buhari, titled, “Letter of appreciation for your re-appointment of the current CBN governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele for a second term,” it commended the President for strictly adhering to the governor’s merit and track record of performing.

The letters were signed by the association’s Chairman, Bayo Ademola and the General Secretary, Felix Obi.

CPWA stated, “On our own part as CBN pensioners, before now, we had prayed for this to happen. We are, therefore, particularly happy with your re-appointment, primarily for the simple fact that you are already conversant with our problems, that is, matters relating to our welfare that are awaiting your necessary actions.

“We specifically refer here to the agreement reached after the meetings between the representatives of the CBN management and the CBN pensioners for the upward review of pensions and a significant enhancement of the medical allowance payable to pensioners which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties on 9th March 2017.”

“It is very likely that appointing a new person as CBN governor now would have further delayed action on its implementation as he or she would have required more time to settle down before taking any action in that direction. We, therefore, hope that now that the issue of your second term has been settled, you would now accord the CBN pensioner’s welfare matters the urgency they deserve.”
