- Ondo Residents Beg Akeredolu to Fix Federal Roads
The residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital and other towns, have called on the state government to fix some bad portions of the federal roads in the state.
Some of the federal roads in the state that need rehabilitation include Akure- Ado Ekiti Road and Owo-Ikare Akoko Road.
The residents, made up of youths, who commended the state government over the ongoing road construction projects in many towns in the state, urged the government to also dualise Akure-Oda town road, where many civil servants reside.
The Youths Leader in Akure Community, Mr Adekanbi Oluwatuyi, who spoke to our correspondent, made the appeal at a youth forum held in Akure on Friday.
He appealed to the governor to complete the extension of the ongoing dualisation of roads in some parts of the town to ljoka area for the use of the residents of the area and other motorists.
He said, “While we appreciate the government over the various ongoing road projects in the state, we want to appeal to our governor to collaborate properly with the Federal Government to fix those failed sections on federal roads in the state in order to avoid occurence of road crashes.”
While lauding the current administration in the state for various road projects carried out within Akure metropolis, Oluwatuyi also appealed to the governor to do more on community roads in the town.
Corroborating the youth leader, another speaker at the forum, Adesola Adedeji, appreciated the governor for opening up some roads in the state capital and urged the government to liase with the Federal Government and fix lgoba-Ado Ekiti road.
Similarly, a youth and resident of Akure, Mr Kunle Abegunde, called on the government to complete all its ongoing road projects in the town and the state in general.
“We appeal to the governor to dualise Oda road; the people, particularly civil servants living in Oda town and its environs, resume late to office due to the traffic problem they face on a daily basis,” he said.
