- KWIRS Boss Urges Incoming Govt to Increase IGR to N5b Monthly
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Prof Muritala Awodun, has called on the incoming administration in the state to work assiduously and move the current Internally Generated Revenue from N2bn monthly to N5bn which was the initial target of the outgoing administration.
Awodun made this call in Ilorin the Kwara State capital on Monday while answering questions on a Radio Kwara personality interview programme, ‘Playing Host.’
He said if the state government could achieve this, it would have succeeded in being in control of the resources that ought to come into the government purse and would not be over-dependent on the allocation from the Federal Government.
He said, “The study that was done before by the state government was that the government can do N5bn as IGR monthly but we know in an environment like Kwara we have to take things step by step. However, from the present N2bn to N5bn monthly is an assignment for the next(incoming) administration. If that can be accomplished, the state will be in total control of its resources.”
