The Automated Teller Machine (ATM) transactions rose to N39.15 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The data contained in the NBS report titled “Selected Banking Sector Data for Fourth Quarter, 2018” was published on the bureau website on Wednesday.

It stated that 616,528,697 transactions valued at N39.15 trillion were performed during the period.

The report noted that NIBSS Instant Payments (NIP) transactions dominated the larger part of the transactions. This was valued at N23.57 trillion in a 228, 209,423 NIP transactions.

Meanwhile, the banking sector total credit to the private sector in the fourth quarter of 2018 was N15.13 trillion.

Non-performing loans stood at N1.79 trillion, lower than N2.36 trillion recorded in 2017.
