The Nigerian Stock Exchange and other stakeholders will converge on Lagos this week for the fourth edition of the NSE-Bloomberg CEO conference.

According to a statement by the NSE, the event, themed ‘Reshaping the Nigerian economy for sustainable growth’, will focus on the issue of the fourth industrial revolution and its implications for the Nigerian economy.

The statement said the roundtable conference would bring together business leaders across multiple sectors as well government officials to examine the present state of the Nigerian economy in the light of the unfolding fourth industrial revolution and chart a way forward.

The Chief Executive Officer, NSE, Oscar Onyema, described the annual event as a platform that would ensure continuous dialogue with key stakeholders and provide strategic solutions to economic issues for follow-up implementation by the Exchange in its capital market advocacy role.

Onyema said Nigeria’s dependence on commodities production as the mainstay of its economy had historically proved to be the source of its high risk exposure to global shifts in commodity demand.

He noted that with the unfolding fourth industrial revolution, which had seen the embeddedness of technology across all aspects of society, Nigeria could accelerate the unlocking of untapped value across all sectors of the economy through the disruption of existing industries and creation of entirely new ones.

“As with previous editions, I expect the forum to be highly interactive with robust engagement,” Onyema added.

The statement said confirmed speakers for the event were the Director General, Debt Management Office, Patience Oniha; Chief Executive Officer, Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe; Africa Economist, Bloomberg Economics, Mark Bohlund; Country Manager, Bloomberg L.P, Fikayo Akeredolu; Chief Executive Officer, Swift Networks, Charles Anudu; Managing Director, Zenith Capital Limited, Jubril Enakele; Chief Executive Officer/Co-Founder, Paystack, Shola Akinlade; Africa Emerging Markets Reporter, Bloomberg News, Paul Wallace; and acting Divisional Head, Listing Business, NSE, Tony Ibeziako.
