- Anthony Joshua to Face Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium Today
British-Nigerian, Anthony Joshua returns to Wembley today to face Russian Alexander Povetkin.
Joshua, who holds WBA Super, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts, will be risking it all tonight against former title challenger Povetkin.
Povetkin,39, lost just once in his career to Wladimir Klitschko and was scheduled to face Deontay Wilder before he tested positive to a ban substance, Meldonium.
Povetkin is one of the most decorated Russian heavyweights and won a Gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympic in Athens, Greece.
With over 130 amateur and 35 professional fights, Povetkin poses a threat to the undefeated and unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua with just 43 amateur and 21 professional fights.
Joshua, 28, is expected to use his youthfulness, height and reach to neutralize Povetkin’s counterpunch and make a statement after his two last fights failed to end in a knockout.
If Anthony Joshua wins today, he will be expected to face American Champion Deontay Wilder in April at the same stadium.
