Brazilian great Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima has agreed to pay £27m for a majority stake in La Liga club, Real Valladolid.

The 41- year old, who admitted earlier this year that he planned to buy a club in England or Spain, will replace Carlos Suarez, the current president of the club when the deal is completed. However, Carlos Suarez is expected to remain in charge of the business, according to Cadena Ser.

The money would allow Valladolid to pay off its £22.7m debt and retain Carlos Suarez in a different role.

Valladolid was promoted to LaLiga after almost five years without top-flight football, drawing their first game back with Girona before losing to FC Barcelona this past weekend.

Ronaldo was named FIFA World Player in 1996, 1997 and 2002.
