The Federal Government on Wednesday put off the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

The meeting holds every Wednesday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari presides over the meeting while Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo steps in whenever the President is not available.

As of Wednesday, Buhari was rounding off his official visit to the Netherlands where he participated in the 20th anniversary of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court among other activities.

Osinbajo was however in Abuja as he attended the 10th National Development Summit of Traditional Rulers.

As of the time of filing this report, no official reason has been given for the cancellation of the meeting.

The last time the meeting was put off was on June 20.

The Presidency had at the time attributed the cancellation to the long Sallah break.

Our correspondent, however, learnt that the Wednesday meeting was cancelled late on Tuesday apparently because of Osinbajo’s tight Tuesday schedule.

The Vice-President had on Tuesday visited Katsina State to commiserate with those affected by flooding in the state.

He was also in Sokoto to inaugurate the ultra-modern BUA cement factory and 32MW power plant.
