The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has supported the ongoing strategic discussions between the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and various consortia on the best possible funding option for the overhaul of the Nigeria’s refineries.

According to the oil workers’ union, the overhaul of Nigeria’s refineries will help to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products nationwide.

PENGASSAN disclosed this in a congratulatory message to the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, which was signed by the association’s President and General Secretary, Francis Johnson and Lumumba Okugbawa, respectively.

The association was felicitating with Baru on his recent conferment of award as the 2018 NewsDirect Man of the Year, according to a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu.

PENGASSAN was quoted in the statement as saying, “We are also aware that under your management and leadership, the NNPC has made remarkable progress in resuscitating other critical downstream infrastructure by making it a key component of your corporate vision of the 12 Business Focus Areas, geared towards ensuring uninterrupted supply of petroleum products nationwide.”

The association added, “It is a sterling acknowledgement of your unmatchable industry experience, impeccable character and capacity as an astute manager of men and resources to achieve set goals and objectives.”

The association commended Baru for dedicating the award to the staff of NNPC, noting that the leadership of the union was elated to share in the moment of exemplary recognition and distinction the award accorded the corporation’s boss.

On 17 March, 2018, NewDirect, a Lagos-based tabloid and online publication, gave its Man of the Year Award to Baru at an event held in Lagos.
