- FG Unveils Transaction Advisers for National Carrier, Others Thursday
The Federal Government will on Thursday unveil transaction advisers, who were recently appointed for the establishment of a national carrier and the concession of the country’s four major international airports.
It was gathered that the transaction advisers handling some other key projects would also be unveiled by the government.
They include advisers on the establishment of maintenance, repair and overhaul centres; development of cargo/agro allied terminals; establishment of an aviation leasing company; and development of aerotropolis or airport cities.
Officials at the aviation arm of the Federal Ministry of Transportation confirmed to our correspondent in Abuja on Tuesday that the transaction advisers would be made public by the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, at the 4th Aviation Stakeholders’ Forum.
The Deputy Director, Public Affairs at the aviation arm of the ministry, James Odaudu, said the forum would enable Sirika to provide updates on developments within the sector and, in particular, unveil the transaction advisers recently appointed by the Federal Government for key projects in the aviation sector.
The Federal Government had approved the appointment of transaction advisers for the proposed national carrier and concession of the nation’s airports in May last year.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Providing further explanation on the initiative, Sirika had stated that since most of the programmes and projects were supposed to be on Public-Private Partnership basis, the government was guided by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission’s regulations.
The minister had said that one of the processes was to appoint a transaction advisers, who would give advisory services, kick-start and lead the process.
Sirika had said, “We took the memo for the appointment of those transaction advisers to carry out the advisory services on the establishment of a national carrier; establishment of an aviation leasing company and maintenance, repair and overhaul centre; establishment of aerotropolis or airport city, as you may call it; and of course, the concession of our airports.”
