- Support Lagos Economic Transformation Programme, Commissioner Urges Stakeholders
The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, has enjoined all stakeholders to work together towards achieving the vision of transforming Lagos State from the fifth largest economy in Africa to the third largest.
According to a statement from the ministry on Thursday, Oladunjoye who noted that Lagos was transiting from the fastest growing megacity in the world to a smart city, said, “Lagos State accounts for over 90 per cent of Nigeria’s foreign trade flow, which invariably contributes 30 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product and accounts for 65 per cent of its manufacturing activities.
“We must support the vision of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to move Lagos from the fifth largest economy in Africa to the third largest economy within the shortest time possible.”
The commissioner said that she would use her vast experience in public service over the years to make Lagos State more investor-friendly and advance its current GDP.
She said, “I want the entire staff of this ministry to embrace transparency and honesty. You should be loyal and hardworking and avoid cutting corners. It is my belief that collectively we will positively rewrite the story of this ministry and Lagos as a whole.
“It is our desire to see a prosperous Lagos that we will all be proud of, in terms of investment and business opportunity for the benefit of all.”
