Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has inaugurated the 40-kilometre N120 billion Bonny-Bodo Road with an assurance to the people of the Niger Delta that they would benefit maximally from the wealth that comes from their land.

He said every part of the country matters to the current administration, hence no part, particularly the Niger Delta, would be neglected.The Vice President gave the assurance yesterday in Bonny Island, Rivers State, while officially cutting the tape to kick-start the construction of the road, which was first awarded by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration in 2002 for N20 billion, but later abandoned.

Osinbajo, who was accompanied by the state’s Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, Governor Benedict Ayade of Cross River, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatude Fashola, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, General Paul Boroh (rtd) among other dignitaries, said the Muhammadu Buhari administration remains committed to the implementation of the new vision programme because every part of the country matters to it.

He said: “November 1 will make it exactly one year after Niger Delta leaders under the aegis of PANDEF met with President Muhammadu Buhari, where he discussed the new vision of his administration with them. On my own part, I have toured several Niger Delta communities to tell them about the new vision of the present administration ably led by President Buhari. Under the new vision, the people of Niger Delta will benefit maximally from the wealth that comes from their land.*”

Meanwhile, the President has re-appointed Mr. Uchechi N. Orji as Managing Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina yesterday, Orji was first appointed in October 2012 for an initial term of five years, renewable for another term of five years.

Under his leadership, the NSIA has made remarkable strides, and its assets now stand at over $2 billion.Also, President Buhari has approved the nomination of Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma as the Director General of the Nigerian Law School.

Chiroma succeeds Olanrewaju Onadeko, who is due for retirement. Chiroma is a Professor of Law, and currently the Deputy Director in charge of the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School. He hails from Adamawa State.
