- Trump Blasts Amazon Over Taxes, Jobs
The U.S. President Donald Trump once again took his criticism to Twitter.
This time, the President criticized Amazon.com, Inc on taxes and jobs, although the accusation was without evidence, the company shares dropped 0.5 percent.
“Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities, and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt – many jobs being lost!” the president wrote on Twitter.
Donald Trump, who first criticized Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder in 2016 for buying The Washington Post, once said if elected Amazon will have problems.
“I have respect for Jeff Bezos, but he bought The Washington Post to have political influence, and I gotta tell you, we have a different country than we used to have,” Trump said during a speech in Texas on Friday (see clip below). “He wants political influence so that Amazon will benefit from it. That’s not right. And believe me, if I become president, oh, do they have problems. They’re going to have such problems.”
Earlier this month, Amazon.com hosted multiple job fairs to fill its more than 50,000 job openings across the United States.
Amazon.com is yet to respond to the tweet.
