In a bid to support the Federal Government’s import substitution and backward integration policy, Euro Global Foods and Distilleries, a member of Sona Group of Companies, has disclosed that it is already using 85 per cent local raw materials in its productive value chain to boost made-in-Nigeria products.
The Managing Director, Euro Global and Distilleries, Manish Uniyal, stated this during a factory tour of the company’s plant in Ota, Ogun State.
He said that the company was in constant touch with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and other relevant government agencies in a bid to improve local raw material inputs in all its manufactured products.
Uniyal explained that the firm had moved from being import-dependent to a local content firm, adding that in two years ‘ time, its products would spread to about 30 states in Nigeria and beyond.
He said, “Euro Global Foods and Distilleries Limited is a market leader in Nigeria and its neighbouring countries, producing, packaging, marketing and supplying premium world-class alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and beverages.
“Two years ago, import accounted for 60 per cent of our raw materials. But with the Federal Government’s decision to re-energise the country’s economy and in an attempt to make Nigeria a hub of investment in the sub Saharan Africa, we had moved from being an import dependent company to local content one. We are now sourcing 85 per cent of our raw materials locally.”
He listed some of the company’s products as Brave Herat rum, Sabrina gin and Blue Lagoon dry gin.
