Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, has pledged to support Vitafoam Plc and Vono Furniture Products Limited, its subsidiary in developing a local content value chain in line with the programmes of the government.

Speaking at Vono Furniture Products Limited facility tour at the Dalemo, Sango-Ota factory, Ashiru said the state believes in private-public partnership approach to development, noting that government needs the supports of the private sector to achieve its developmental agenda for jobs creation, good standard of living and infrastructure development.

According to him, the huge investment would create more jobs for the teaming population and boost the state’s socio economic growth. He added that the products will also help government to achieve its objectives in the areas of equipping hospitals and schools with its range of products without depleting its scarce foreign exchange.

He emphasised the importance of ‘made-in-Nigeria, buy Nigeria’ products campaign, assuring that the Ogun State Government would continue to provide adequate infrastructure for businesses to thrive.

As part of the state’s commitment to enhance the ease of doing business, he noted that the government had created a one-stop shop to assist companies with all regulatory processes with various incentives such as tax waivers and other concessions.

He added that the government is willing to partner with the company in the area of corporate social responsibility including construction of access roads. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, commended Vono Furniture Products for its commitment to enhancing the nation’s economic activities, adding that the company is filling a critical gap in the socio-economic development of the country.

He assured that the government will consider products from the company in its purchase orders, urging the firm to consider concessionary prices for government’s orders given that such purchases are for the overall good of the people.

The Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Trade and Investment, Mrs. Babi Subair, noted that with the huge investments made in machinery and human expertise, Vono is now well positioned to take advantage of the market.

She assured that government would continue to provide the necessary support to encourage the company. The Group Managing Director of Vitafoam, Taiwo Adeniyi, commended the Ogun State Government for its support to the group, noting that the presence of its top officials was an encouraging testimony of the state’s continuous support towards the development of indigenous firms in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the Vitafoam Group, which started as a development experiment has grown over the years from just a foam-manufacturing company into a complete home solution company with five business subsidiaries that produce vast range of products. They include bed and beddings, pre-fab structures, insulation, foot wears and wood and metal furniture among others.

Axxela Limited Raises N16.4bn in Oversubscribed Bond Issuance

Axxela Limited, a leading sub-Saharan African gas and power company, has successfully completed its N15 billion Series 1 Bond Issuance.

The company raised N16.4 billion due to oversubscription and investor confidence in the company’s financial strength and strategic direction.

Bolaji Osunsanya, Axxela’s Chief Executive Officer, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting the bond’s oversubscription of 109%.

Despite challenging economic conditions marked by rising interest rates and limited market liquidity, Axxela’s bond offering attracted strong interest from a diverse group of investors, including pension fund administrators, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals.

Osunsanya explained that the proceeds from the bond issuance would play a crucial role in funding the company’s long-term capital expenditures, managing its weighted average cost of capital, and diversifying its funding sources.

The funds will support the completion of ongoing gas pipeline projects across Nigeria, aligning with the company’s commitment to enhancing energy infrastructure and contributing to the country’s energy transition agenda.

Stanbic IBTC Capital, serving as the lead issuing house alongside seven joint issuing houses, played a pivotal role in facilitating the transaction, with Stanbic IBTC Bank acting as the transaction bank.

The successful bond issuance reflects Axxela’s strategic positioning as a key player in the region’s energy sector and its ability to leverage strong investor confidence to drive growth and innovation in the industry.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once again sent ripples through Nigeria’s fuel market by further reducing the prices of diesel and aviation fuel.

In a bid to alleviate economic hardships faced by Nigerians, the refinery has lowered the price of diesel to ₦940 per litre and aviation fuel to ₦980 per litre.

This latest move comes on the heels of the refinery’s recent price reduction to ₦1,000 per litre for diesel, which was celebrated across the country.

The decision to slash prices further underscores Dangote Refinery’s commitment to providing affordable fuel to consumers.

Anthony Chiejina, the Head of Communication at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, announced the development.

He revealed that the new prices are part of a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations to ensure accessibility and affordability of fuel across all major locations, including Lagos and Maiduguri.

The refinery’s management expressed optimism that the price reduction would significantly ease the financial burden on consumers, particularly amid rising inflation and energy costs.

They also hinted at extending the partnership to other major oil marketers to ensure uniform pricing and prevent retail buyers from purchasing fuel at exorbitant prices.

This marks the third major reduction in diesel prices in less than three weeks, signaling Dangote Refinery’s proactive approach to addressing economic challenges.

The move has garnered praise from various quarters, with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu commending the refinery for its efforts to support the economy.

Industry experts, including Ajayi Kadiri, the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, lauded the refinery’s initiative, highlighting its potential to stimulate economic activities across critical sectors such as industrial operations, transportation, logistics, and agriculture.
