Govt to Compel MDAs to Patronise NigComSat

  • Govt to Compel MDAs to Patronise NigComSat

The Federal Government will compel Ministries, Departments and Agencies to acquire bandwidth services from the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, has said.

Shittu said this in a television programme, according to a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday by the Head of Media Relations Unit at NigComSat, Mr. Stephen Kwande.

The minister emphasised that for the country to achieve sufficiency and attract the confidence of customers in the services provided by NigComSat, there was a need for more satellite backups for the NigComSat-1R to meet up with the current bandwidth requirements of the nation.

He said NigComSat had achieved much even though the company was faced with the challenge of having one satellite and inadequate ground infrastructure.
