- Kaduna to Spend N3.12bn on Power in 2017
The Kaduna State Government has earmarked N3.12bn for various electricity projects in the state in 2017.
The projects would be coordinated by the State Power Supply Company.
The amount, contained in the 2017 Budget document for the state, indicated that the administration would inject N1.2 billion to complete the Kudendan Power Project.
The gas plant project, with a capacity of 215 megawatt, was to provide power to industrial areas of Kaduna, and is scheduled for completion by August 2017.
Also in the budget, a total of N200 million was provided for the completion of the 30 megawatt Gurara Hydro Power Plant.
The government indicated that it would secure N1.5 billion loan from India Exim to finance the power project.
According to the breakdown, more than N2.25 billion of the finances would be provided through Concessional Multilateral Loans and Credit.
The government also earmarked N31.3 million for the procurement of 30 Units of Modular 50KVA Waste-to-Power Generator, to generate 1.5 megawatts of electricity.
It also made provision to procure N45 million worth of generators, and the sum of N70 million to provide power infrastructure to new layouts and deployment of Mini-Grid Solar Systems.
On solar energy, the government has earmarked N52 million for its Solar Rooftop Initiative, and N25 million for the “Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings project”.
