MTN Seeks Out of Court Settlement For N1.04tn fine

 

Telecommunication giant, MTN seeks out Nigeria has said it is considering out of court settlement with the Nigerian Communications Commission over the imposed N1.04tn fine.

MTN’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), pleaded with the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris to allow the parties explore the option of settlement out of court.

But Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, told the court that the parties had been finding it hard to settle out of court, hence, urged the court to proceed as all the court papers has been properly filed and served.

“This is a matter of national importance. There have been concessions in the past and nothing happened,” said Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN).

After carefully listen to all the arguments from all parties, Justice Idris adjourned till March 18 for possible report on settlement or for hearing in the case.
