John Holt Plc topped the losers’ chart on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday after its share price declined 10.00 percent.

The stock fell from N9.00 to N8.10, recording the session’s steepest decline as selling pressure persisted across several counters.

Top Losers

Company Previous Close Current Price Change
John Holt Plc N9.00 N8.10 -10.00%
Ellah Lakes Plc N10.20 N9.20 -9.80%
DAAR Communications Plc N1.53 N1.38 -9.80%
Regal Insurance Plc N0.78 N0.71 -8.97%
Learn Africa Plc N8.65 N7.90 -8.67%

The losses came even as the broader market finished in positive territory.

The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advanced 0.10 percent to close at 243,299.24 points, while equity market capitalisation increased by approximately N160.26 billion to N157.747 trillion, supported by gains in selected large and mid-cap stocks.

Among the session’s best performers, Royal Exchange Plc and NGX Group Plc both appreciated 10.00 percent, while R.T. Briscoe Plc, NSLTech Plc and Prestige Assurance Plc also recorded strong gains.

Trading activity moderated during the session.

Investors exchanged 428.97 million shares worth N20.52 billion in 54,592 deals, compared with 552.87 million shares valued at N25.78 billion in the previous session. Although turnover volume and value declined, the higher number of deals reflected sustained investor participation.

Monday’s trading highlighted a market driven by selective positioning rather than broad-based buying. While gains in a handful of stocks lifted the benchmark index, continued declines in counters such as John Holt, Ellah Lakes and DAAR Communications indicate that investors remained willing to lock in profits in selected equities as the market sought direction.
