Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) extended their positive momentum on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday as NEWGOLD ETF and SIAMLETF40 recorded fresh gains.
NEWGOLD ETF climbed from N95,202.00 to N99,999.00, gaining N4,797.00, while SIAMLETF40 advanced by N100.00 to close at N1,750.00, placing both funds among the strongest-performing ETFs during the session.
The latest gains continue the positive trend that has characterised ETF trading in recent sessions with investors maintaining exposure to diversified funds even as trading activity in the broader equity market remains selective.

The gains came as the broader market recorded a modest recovery.
The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) rose to 246,388.22 points, while equity market capitalisation increased to N159.153 trillion, adding approximately N238 billion in investor wealth.
Although gains in heavyweight equities such as Seplat Energy Plc drove the benchmark index higher, the ETF segment continued to demonstrate consistent strength independent of individual stock movements.
The broad-based gains across the leading ETFs suggest investors are increasingly complementing direct equity investments with diversified investment products, allowing them to gain exposure to multiple asset classes and sectors through a single instrument.
The positive performance was not limited to one fund.
Alongside NEWGOLD and SIAMLETF40, VSPBONDETF, VETINDETF, and VETGOODS all closed higher, indicating widespread buying interest across the ETF market.
The consistency of ETF gains over recent trading sessions highlights improving investor confidence in diversified investment vehicles as market sentiment gradually strengthens.
While banking stocks continue to dominate market liquidity and heavyweight equities remain the primary drivers of the benchmark index, ETFs are quietly emerging as one of the Exchange’s most resilient investment segments.
Thursday’s trading reinforces that trend, with NEWGOLD approaching the N100,000 mark and SIAMLETF40 extending its upward trajectory, suggesting investors continue to increase allocations to diversified funds as part of their broader portfolio strategy.
