FirstBank Confirms FirstMobile Service Disruption, Directs Customers to Alternative Channels

FirstBank has confirmed a service disruption affecting transactions on its FirstMobile application, leaving some customers unable to complete digital banking activities.

The bank said its technical team had commenced work to restore normal operations but did not disclose the cause of the disruption or provide a specific timeline for resolution.

Customers requiring urgent services were advised to use the bank’s other transaction platforms while the mobile application remained unstable.

The available alternatives include FirstOnline, the LIT application, FirstMonie Wallet and the bank’s USSD banking service. Customers can also complete eligible transactions using debit cards and FirstBank automated teller machines.

The disruption could temporarily affect transfers, bill payments, airtime purchases and other services normally processed through FirstMobile.

FirstBank apologised for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts were underway to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

Customers experiencing unresolved transaction issues or failed debits were encouraged to contact the bank through its official telephone and email support channels.

The bank did not indicate whether the disruption affected every FirstMobile user or only a section of its customer base.

Service interruptions across banking applications can create significant difficulties for individuals and businesses increasingly dependent on mobile platforms for payments and other daily financial activities.

FirstBank’s prompt identification of alternative channels is expected to reduce the immediate impact, although customers may experience increased traffic across the bank’s USSD, internet banking and ATM networks until FirstMobile is fully restored.

Customers should retain transaction references and debit notifications for any incomplete payments and avoid repeatedly initiating the same transfer while its status remains uncertain.
