Julius Berger Appoints Muiz Banire as Non-Executive Director, Names Chinazo Okoye Alternate Director

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has announced changes to its Board of Directors with the appointment of Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, SAN, OON, as a Non-Executive Director and Mrs. Chinazo Okoye as Alternate Director to Dr. Ernest Nnaemeka Azudialu-Obiejesi, OFR.

The construction giant disclosed in a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) that the appointments were approved by its Board of Directors at a meeting held on June 17, 2026.

According to the company, Banire’s appointment will take effect from July 1, 2026, while Okoye was appointed Alternate Director to represent Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi on the Board.

Banire is a seasoned legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria with decades of experience spanning legal practice, academia, arbitration and public service.

A graduate of the University of Lagos, he holds master’s and doctoral degrees in law and has served in several leadership positions across the legal and educational sectors.

He is the Founder and Principal Partner of M.A. Banire & Associates, a member of the Board of Trustees of Fountain University, Osogbo, and currently serves as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo. He was also conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Mrs. Chinazo Okoye brings extensive experience in engineering, finance and corporate management to the Board.

She holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and Cornell University, as well as a Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of London.

She is a Chartered Certified Accountant and currently serves as Managing Director of Amaranta Trading Limited.

Julius Berger said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening corporate governance and enhancing the depth of expertise available to the Board as the company pursues its long-term growth objectives.

The notification was signed by the Company Secretary, Cecilia Ekanem Madueke.
