Ajibade Confirms Super Falcons Have Not Received $100,000 Presidential Reward
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team is yet to receive the $100,000 reward and other benefits promised by the Federal Government following their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade expressed disappointment over the delay in fulfilling the commitments made after the team’s historic win.
When asked if the players had received the pledged amount, she replied, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything.”
The Super Falcons secured a record-extending WAFCON title in Morocco with Ajibade leading the squad to victory. Following their triumph, President Bola Tinubu hosted the players and technical crew at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the reception, the President conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) on the squad and coaching staff.
He also announced a $100,000 cash reward and a three-bedroom flat for each player.
At the time, Tinubu praised the team for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage,” describing their performance as a historic achievement for Nigeria’s sports history.
However, months after the announcement, the promised financial reward and other commitments remain outstanding, raising concerns over delayed implementation of the Federal Government’s pledges to the national team.
