The Federal Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to boosting the Nigerian economy by promoting locally made products.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, made this announcement during a working visit to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Products Showroom in Abuja.
Oduwole expressed the government’s determination to support locally manufactured goods, emphasizing that this strategy would drive economic growth, foster innovation, and promote job creation.
“We have a collective responsibility to buy what we produce and produce what we use,” Oduwole stated, highlighting the crucial role of supporting indigenous industries in national economic transformation.
The minister’s visit included a tour of NASENI’s innovation hubs and production facilities, where she praised the agency’s progressive model of transforming ideas into practical solutions.
NASENI, known for its cutting-edge research and development, has successfully attracted investors and scaled projects into commercially viable products, reinforcing the government’s vision of building a self-sustaining economy.
“We are committed to making Nigerian-made products a significant part of our economic strategy. This initiative aligns perfectly with the administration’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy,” Oduwole said, stressing the importance of innovation and local production in achieving the nation’s ambitious economic targets.
She also highlighted that the government’s focus on local products would enhance Gross Domestic Product (GDP), create jobs, and contribute to the nation’s security.
Ambassador Nuru Rimi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, commended Oduwole’s leadership and proactive stance in fostering stronger partnerships with agencies like NASENI.
He added, “The synergy between our ministry and NASENI marks a new chapter in service delivery, policy execution, and national progress.”
In his remarks, Mr. Khalil Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, expressed his gratitude for the minister’s visit and underscored the significance of public-private collaboration.
“We are proud to showcase our capacity not just to innovate, but to meet market demands with quality products at the right price. From energy solutions to vaccine manufacturing, NASENI is delivering products that resonate with both Nigerian aspirations and international standards,” Halilu said.
Halilu further noted that the partnership between NASENI and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment was poised to usher in a new era of industrialization, one that would place Nigerian craftsmanship, innovation, and pride at the centre of global competitiveness.
This renewed commitment by the Federal Government reflects its dedication to not only stimulating local production but also ensuring that Nigeria’s industries remain globally competitive.
The government’s focus on promoting Nigerian-made products will contribute to long-term economic resilience, job creation, and national pride, ensuring that Nigeria’s industrial sector becomes a leading force in Africa and beyond.
