Ecobank Group Reports 40% Profit Growth in H1 2025, Assets Rise to $32 Billion

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of Ecobank Group, has announced strong financial performance for the first six months of 2025, with profit before tax rising 40 percent year-on-year to ₦620.2 billion ($398.5 million).

According to the unaudited financial results obtained by Investors King, profit after tax grew by 40 percent to ₦433.9 billion ($278.8 million), underscoring the bank’s sustained momentum across key business segments and regions.

Revenue and Earnings

Gross earnings increased 24 percent to ₦2.31 trillion ($1.48 billion), compared with ₦1.86 trillion ($1.36 billion) in H1 2024. Revenue also advanced by 28 percent to ₦1.74 trillion ($1.12 billion), supported by robust growth in interest and non-interest income.

Operating profit before impairment charges rose 40 percent to ₦884.2 billion ($568.1 million), reflecting improved efficiency and stronger balance sheet management.

Balance Sheet Growth

Ecobank’s total assets expanded 13 percent year-on-year to ₦49.09 trillion ($32.0 billion), driven by increases in loans and advances to customers as well as customer deposits.

  • Loans and Advances: ₦16.86 trillion ($11.0 billion), up 10 percent from ₦15.35 trillion a year earlier.

  • Customer Deposits: ₦36.56 trillion ($23.9 billion), a 16 percent increase from ₦31.64 trillion in H1 2024.

  • Total Equity: ₦3.62 trillion ($2.4 billion), up 30 percent year-on-year, strengthening capital adequacy and shareholder value.

Earnings Per Share

Basic and diluted earnings per share improved to 1,226.70 kobo (0.788 cents) from 878.21 kobo (0.642 cents) in the corresponding period of 2024, a 40 percent increase.

Ecobank’s H1 2025 performance highlights the group’s ability to deliver strong earnings growth amid evolving market conditions.

The bank continues to leverage its pan-African network, digital infrastructure, and diversified business model to drive profitability and enhance shareholder returns.
