Transcorp Power Plc Reports ₦44.05 Billion Profit in H1 2025 as Revenue Jumps 52%

Transcorp Power Plc has reported a profit after tax of ₦44.05 billion for the half year ended June 30, 2025, representing a 19.7% increase from ₦36.78 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2024, according to the company’s unaudited interim financial statements obtained by Investors King.

Revenue rose 51.9% year-on-year to ₦205.81 billion in H1 2025, compared to ₦135.44 billion in H1 2024, driven by improved generation output and stronger demand across Nigeria’s electricity market.

Gross profit stood at ₦77.62 billion, up from ₦62.98 billion in the same period last year.

Operating Performance

Operating profit grew 15.3% to ₦59.07 billion from ₦51.20 billion a year earlier. The performance was supported by other gains of ₦2.62 billion, up from ₦1.10 billion in H1 2024, and finance income of ₦3.45 billion compared to ₦2.66 billion in the prior year.

Administrative expenses increased by 67.5% to ₦14.75 billion from ₦8.81 billion, reflecting higher operating costs and inflationary pressures in the power sector.

Impairment charges on financial assets also rose to ₦3.80 billion from ₦2.99 billion in the previous year.

Finance Costs and Profitability

Finance costs climbed 61% to ₦6.41 billion from ₦3.98 billion in H1 2024, largely due to higher interest expenses

Despite this, profit before tax increased 15.2% year-on-year to ₦58.73 billion, compared with ₦50.97 billion in H1 2024.

After an income tax expense of ₦14.68 billion, profit after tax closed at ₦44.05 billion, compared with ₦36.78 billion reported in the same period last year.

Shareholder Returns

Earnings per share rose significantly to ₦5.87 from ₦4.00 in H1 2024, underscoring stronger value creation for investors.
