CAC’s AI Portal Processes 11,000 Transactions Daily Amid Technical Constraints

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has disclosed that its newly launched artificial intelligence (AI)-powered registration platform is now processing approximately 11,000 transactions per day despite persistent technical limitations linked to third-party integrations.

The AI portal, launched on June 30, 2025, is designed to automate core business registration processes and deliver incorporation certificates within 30 minutes of successful identity verification.

According to CAC, the platform handled over 8,000 name reservations on a single day—figures that would have previously taken up to two weeks under the commission’s manual processing framework.

The CAC stated that the platform’s performance demonstrates its potential to streamline corporate registrations and improve Nigeria’s ease of doing business.

However, technical constraints tied to external systems continue to affect full platform efficiency.

A key bottleneck has been the downtime of the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) portal, which the CAC relies on for real-time National Identification Number (NIN) verification.

In addition, users have experienced recurring issues with the Remita payment gateway, which the commission currently uses for processing transaction fees.

CAC management confirmed it has requested approval from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to integrate additional payment service providers to reduce payment-related delays.

To enhance security and compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the portal now requires a mandatory One-Time Password (OTP) validation for each transaction, ensuring only authorised access.

The commission also confirmed that the AI system includes audit trails to monitor and address anomalies swiftly.

CAC has also reported an average of 3,000 customer service tickets processed daily, supported by a dedicated helpdesk aimed at resolving user issues and improving user experience.

The commission noted that while automation has significantly reduced processing times, the overall system performance remains linked to the responsiveness of external platforms such as NIMC and the Treasury Single Account payment gateway.

With the new platform, users can now search for business names without advance payment, reserve names, and complete company registrations with reduced documentation and human intervention.

The AI system auto-verifies applications, compares submitted data against internal rules, and either approves or rejects submissions without delay.

The CAC reaffirmed its commitment to software enhancements and technical upgrades to improve platform resilience and ensure uninterrupted access.

It also intends to scale the system’s capacity further in preparation for increased demand from both local and diaspora users.

The commission’s digital shift represents a major milestone in the automation of regulatory services in Nigeria.

While challenges remain, the AI portal’s throughput—at over 11,000 transactions daily—signals a transformation in public sector service delivery and positions the CAC to play a more efficient role in formalising businesses across the country.
