Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has formally communicated his intention to complete a permanent transfer from Napoli to Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed on Tuesday night that Osimhen has asked Napoli’s management to conclude negotiations without delay to enable him to join the Istanbul-based club ahead of the new season.

Galatasaray are expected to pay a €75 million release clause for the prolific forward and have reportedly agreed personal terms with Osimhen with the contract set to run until June 2028, including an option for a further year.

Sources familiar with the deal confirmed that discussions are now focused on agreeing on a five-year payment structure for the transfer fee.

Osimhen, who enjoyed a remarkable loan spell with Galatasaray last season, netting 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances, is keen to secure his future with the Turkish Super Lig giants following months of speculation surrounding his next move.

According to Turkish sports journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, both Napoli and Galatasaray have agreed on the transfer framework with final details on the payment plan being ironed out.

Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu is scheduled to meet Napoli officials today (Wednesday, July 9) to conclude outstanding terms.

The 26-year-old’s proposed switch is regarded as one of the most closely watched transfers of the summer window and signals Galatasaray’s ambition to consolidate their domestic dominance while boosting their competitiveness in European competitions.

Should the deal be completed as expected, Osimhen’s transfer will become one of the biggest moves involving a Nigerian footballer, underlining the forward’s rising market value and continued demand among top clubs.

Osimhen, who previously helped Napoli secure the Serie A title, has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers and remains a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s national team setup.

Industry analysts expect Galatasaray’s management to leverage the player’s signing to strengthen commercial partnerships, merchandising, and match-day revenues, given Osimhen’s profile and fan following across Africa and Europe.

The transfer is also anticipated to impact Napoli’s squad rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 season as the Italian club looks to reinvest proceeds from the deal to reinforce key positions and maintain competitiveness in Serie A and continental tournaments.

As negotiations enter their final phase, all eyes are now on both clubs to close the deal in line with Osimhen’s preference for an immediate resolution.
