Terrorists Attack Nigerian Military Bases in Yobe, Borno With Fighter Drones

Tension has started brewing within the military and paramilitary camps in Nigeria following the use of fighter drones by suspected terrorists.

Before now, the attackers have been launching their deadly missions through sophisticated weapons and some detonative devices.

Nigeria has been battling with the insurgents in the North East region for about 14 years now and all efforts to end the deadly insurgency have not yielded tangible progress.

On Monday, this week, some terrorists attacked the Forward Operating Base in Wajiroko in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, successfully launching their attack with the use of fighter drones.

In a military signal, it was stated that a gun truck belonging to the army was damaged after the terrorists used multiple drones to attack the base.

The attack reportedly happened at about 231300 as the suspected terrorists bombarded the base using the drones and other fire arms on tps at FOB Wajiroko in Damboa LGA.

Troops at the base were said to have repelled the attack, forcing terrorists to be in disarray.

On Christmas day, some other terrorists were said to have attacked a military base in Yobe by using about three drones.

It was gathered that the terrorists attacked the 27 Task Force Brigade base in Buni Gari, Yobe State.

However, soldiers attached to the base were able to shoot down the three fighter drones, the sources added.

One of the sources disclosed that the use of drones appear to be the latest tactics by terrorists to decimate the military.

Insecurity has been on of the major challenges battling Nigeria even as the war against insurgency has been defeating governments.

President Bola Tinubu has vowed to crush insurgents, bandits, and other terror mongers in the coming year 2025.

To make this happen, the President said he prioritised security in his 2025 proposed budget.

Addressing journalists recently, Tinubu also reiterated his commitment towards bringing a lasting end to the reign of terrorists in the country, urging all stakeholders to also support the government.
