9mobile Blames Service Disruption on Vandalism, Assures Customers of Quality Service

9mobile, one of Nigeria’s telco giants, has blamed the recent disruption of service experienced by some of its users on a fibre cut at its Main Data Centre in Lagos, and some vandalism incidents on its facilities in Lagos and Abuja.

In a statement obtained by Investors King on Wednesday, December 18, the service provider apologized to its customers for service disruption and any inconvenience.

According to 9mobile, the company’s inability to provide voice, data, and internet services was mainly caused by a fibre cut in its Lagos facility, however, the statement disclosed that the two vandalism incidents in Lagos and Abuja further worsened the situation.

The statement stated, “We sincerely apologize for the recent service outages experienced by our valued customers, which have affected our ability to provide voice, data, and internet services. We understand the frustration these disruptions have caused and deeply regret the inconvenience. The incident was compounded by a series of fibre interruptions.

“We had a fibre cut on the backbone links in Lagos, leading to a total data outage across the country. This was closely followed by two vandalism incidents in Lagos and Abuja, causing further service outages.”

The company assured its subscribers of quality services announcing that while services have fully been restored in some parts of the country, efforts have been intensified to restore services in other areas

The statement continued: “Services have now been fully restored in the North and South-South regions, and we are working diligently to restore services in the remaining areas as soon as possible.”

The service provider reiterated its commitment to its core mandate stressing, “At 9mobile, customer satisfaction is our top priority. We value the trust you place in us and appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.”

Customers still experiencing service downtime are advised to seek support through 9mobile’s social media channels or visit experience centres.

“We are here to assist you. Please reach out if you are still experiencing issues,” the telco concluded.
