SEC Unveils ‘InvestNigeria’ Campaign to Boost Capital Market Investment

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a campaign, InvestNigeria, to attract more investors to the capital market.

The Director General of the SEC, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, explained that the campaign aims to educate investors on investment risks, available products, and to promote investment opportunities in the capital market.

He stated, “Advertising can be an effective way to promote investment in the capital market because it educates potential investors about the benefits and opportunities of investing. The campaigns improve literacy by helping investors understand various investment products, risks, and rewards. Advertising also informs investors about available investment opportunities, such as initial public offerings (IPOs), bonds, and mutual funds.”

Agama noted that the campaign has the potential to attract both local and international investment by making financial services more accessible and affordable for investors.

“Advertising can attract domestic and foreign investment, leading to increased capital formation and the development of the capital market. It also aids financial deepening by making financial services more inclusive and affordable,” he said.

He further added that more seminars, workshops, and conferences would be hosted to promote investment opportunities and that collaboration with the media would be key in creating public awareness.

“We aim to collaborate with financial influencers, bloggers, and thought leaders to promote investment in the capital market. We will also organize seminars, workshops, and conferences to educate investors and highlight investment opportunities, as well as leverage media platforms to raise awareness about the capital market and its offerings,” he added.
