Abuja to House Nigeria’s First Smart Police Station

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Police Affairs, has rolled out plans to erect the country’s first Smart Police Station (SPS) in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to help combat crime in the region.

This latest development was made known by the Ministry’s Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Bolaji Kazeem, via a statement made available to Investors King on Sunday, December 15.

He stated that the investment in security aligns with the FG’s determination to safeguard the lives and properties of residents in the FCT and combat crime using advance and modern technology.

In addition to the smart police headquarters, Kazeem announced the commencement of the construction of six residential quarters for rank-and-file officers.

During the ceremony and supervision of the projects, the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, expressed optimism that the new station, when completed, will help eliminate crimes in the area.

Gaidam stated: “The presence of this divisional headquarters of the police in this location will protect citizens commuting daily for their activities from the dangers of kidnapping, one-chance operations, and robbery, as well as other related crimes affecting people in the city.”

The Minister disclosed that with the projects, “The Federal Government is committed to the emergence of a world-class police force that is inclusive, intelligence-led, technology-driven, and community-based.”

The District Head of Mpape, Alhaji Adamu Diga, hailed the Ministry, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, and the Nigeria Police Force for the projects stressing that it would go a long way in combating crimes in the area.

He urged residents to cooperate with the force to battle the rising insecurity in the FCT.
