FG Launches Free CNG Bus Service to Ease Transportation Costs in Abuja
The Federal Government has started a free Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus service in the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) to reduce transportation costs for Nigerians.
The presidential CNG initiative posted a video on its X (formerly Twitter) page stating that the CNG started operations yesterday (Monday).
According to reports gathered, the bus will go through popular routes such as Maraba, Eagle Square, and the Berger bus stop in Abuja.
The free bus service is scheduled to end on January 6, 2025.
The government initiative handed over 15 compressed Natural Gas-powered buses to three transport unions which are the National Road Transport Workers Union, the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.
In a video monitored by Investors King on Monday, commuters who benefitted from the program lauded the current administration’s initiative for reducing the cost of transportation in the nations capital.
One of the respondents, Fatima, said, “I just boarded a CNG bus going to Maraba, and we were asked not to pay, and I didn’t pay. I hope it will continue for long.
“I like it very much; I know this is the beginning of good things that will happen to Nigerian people.”
