NECO Expands Reach: Schools in Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea Accredited for Exams

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the accreditation of schools in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea to participate in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a statement issued by NECO’s Acting Director of Public Relations, Azeez Sanni, on Saturday, November 23, the examination body revealed that the accredited schools were selected following a comprehensive inspection by its accreditation team.

Sanni explained that this initiative aims to broaden NECO’s reach and enhance its global recognition.

The statement reads in part “Determined to broaden its horizon and expand its global presence, the National Examinations Council has accredited more foreign schools to participate in the Senior School Certificate Examination and the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

“The newly accredited schools, in addition to the existing ones, are located in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea.

“The NECO accreditation team visited the schools to assess their readiness to conduct the SSCE and BECE.”

Speaking on the inspection, Sanni stated: “The accreditation team inspected classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities to evaluate their adequacy and suitability for NECO examinations.

“After a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status.”

NECO reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education, stressing: “The accreditation of additional foreign schools is a testament to NECO’s dedication to delivering quality education and assessment beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“With its expanding global presence, NECO is poised to become a leading examination body in Africa, offering opportunities for students worldwide to benefit from its expertise, thereby contributing to the advancement of education in Africa and beyond,” he concluded.
