The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has ordered the commissioner of Power in the state to take over as the acting Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC) following the removal of Meyen Etukudoh.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and released to journalists in Uyo revealed that Eno’s decision to dismiss Etukudoh aligns with the ongoing restructuring of his administration.
It was also noted that the termination which was with immediate effect aligns with the governor’s objectives for the power sector in the state.
Part of the statement reads, “As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024.”
The governor directed Etukudo to handover to the commissioner and also thanked him for his services to the state while wishing him well in his future endeavours.
“Etukudoh is, therefore, directed to handover to the commissioner, Ministry of Power, who will oversee the company till further notice. The governor, expresses gratitude to the Managing Director for his services to the state and wishes him success in his future endeavours,” the statement added.
Investors King gathered that the decision to sack Etukudoh comes hours after he released a statement attributing the recent statewide power outage to a dispute between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.
Furthermore, this latest development comes as the state governor prepares for the funeral rites of his late wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who passed away recently.
