In a move to address the staffing gap in teaching in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has unveiled an online portal for qualified individuals interested in joining the civil service.

This was announced by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.

Arigbabu noted that the recruitment will be overseen by the Ministry in collaboration with the State Teaching Service Commission, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board.

According to the Commissioner, the requirements for the available positions include a minimum of a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.A. (Edu)/B.Sc. (Ed)/B.Ed.) with a Second Class Lower in the relevant subjects or courses.

He revealed that the government’s decision to employ an additional 1,000 teachers aims to address staffing gaps in the state’s public elementary, middle, and technical schools.

Furthermore, Arigbabu urged interested and qualified individuals to visit the portal and apply before November 6.

“Those from other disciplines (outside education) must possess a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from reputable universities,” he added. “Applicants for Technical Colleges must hold a B.Sc. in Technical Education, B.Sc. in Engineering, B.Eng., or HND in Engineering fields.”

“Interested applicants are to apply through the Ogun State Job Portal via www.teach.ogunstate.gov.ng between Wednesday, October 16, and Wednesday, November 6, 2024.”

The Commissioner disclosed that successful applicants will be assigned to Local Government Areas as interns, where they will practice for two years.

During this period, the interns will be evaluated based on their skill level, dedication to their duties, punctuality, respect for authority, and willingness to serve.

He concluded that the interns will receive a monthly allowance during their two-year internship.
