Nigeria Customs at Murtala Muhammed Airport Command Hits N28bn Revenue Milestone

The Nigeria Customs Service at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command generated N28 billion between January and February.

This was revealed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Victor Ogagbor, who highlighted the effective operational strategies employed by the Customs Area Controller, Mohammed Yusuf, and his team.

Yusuf attributed this feat to the collaborative efforts of officers and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of synergy and compliance in revenue generation.

The command surpassed its monthly revenue target, underscoring a robust performance driven by diligence and dedication.

Detailing the revenue figures, Yusuf noted that the command’s expected target for the period was N23.9 billion, yet it managed to exceed expectations by generating N28.9 billion.

This 20% growth represents a significant leap in revenue collection, reflecting the command’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

Furthermore, amidst revenue collection efforts, the command has also demonstrated its vigilance in combating illicit activities.

Yusuf disclosed the interception of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition during a joint examination with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, resulting in the apprehension of two suspects pending further investigation.

Also, significant seizures of wildlife contraband, including 1,164kg of sea cucumbers and 58kg of Donkey Genitals, underscore the command’s dedication to upholding regulatory standards.

As the Murtala Muhammed Airport Command celebrates this milestone, Yusuf urged his officers to maintain the momentum, ensuring continued diligence in their duties.

This achievement not only reflects positively on the efficiency of the Customs Service but also contributes to the broader economic stability and security of the nation.
