In a heartfelt tribute to the late Herbert Wigwe, former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Aliko Dangote has announced the naming of the 120km road leading to his refinery in Lagos after the distinguished banker.

The poignant announcement took place during a special event titled ‘Celebrating Herbert Wigwe – A Professional Legacy’ held at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

Dangote, renowned businessman and industrialist, spoke warmly of Wigwe’s unwavering dedication and exceptional contributions to their shared endeavors.

Expressing profound admiration, Dangote declared, “To immortalize my beloved friend, my brother, and mentee, I’ve actually decided to name our major refinery and petrochemical road – out of the 120km road – the biggest road will now be named Herbert Wigwe.”

Describing Wigwe as a reliable mentee who extended unparalleled support to him and his ventures, Dangote’s tribute underscored the depth of their enduring friendship and professional collaboration.

Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and prominent industry figure Abimbola Ogunbanjo, tragically perished in a helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border on February 9th.

The ceremony, attended by dignitaries including government officials and business leaders, served as a poignant reminder of Wigwe’s profound impact and enduring legacy in the Nigerian banking sector.
