Dangote Refinery Commences Production of Diesel and Aviation Fuel

The Dangote Refinery has officially kicked off operations by commencing the production of diesel and aviation fuel.

This significant milestone was announced by the Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote on Friday.

The Chief Branding and Communications Officer of the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the commencement of operations, emphasizing the refinery’s focus on diesel and aviation fuel production.

Although petrol production is still pending, this breakthrough positions the refinery as a pivotal player in meeting the country’s energy needs.

Aliko Dangote expressed his elation and extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support, hailing the project as a testament to visionary leadership and meticulous attention to details.

The Chairman acknowledged the pivotal role played by various stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

“We thank President Bola Tinubu for his support and for making our dream come true. This production, as witnessed today, would not have been possible without his visionary leadership and prompt attention to details,” Dangote remarked.

The Dangote Refinery boasts the capacity to load 2,900 trucks a day at its truck-loading gantries, adhering to Euro V specifications.

A momentous achievement for the country, the refinery’s products are anticipated to conform to global emission norms and standards.

While the production of petrol is awaiting a consistent supply of crude oil, the commencement of diesel and aviation fuel production brings renewed hope for a reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, is a monumental project set to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
