Nigeria Customs Service Sets Record with Historic Monthly Revenue Collection of N135 Billion

The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has achieved a historic milestone by collecting a record-breaking revenue of N135 billion in the month of October.

This marks the highest monthly collection in the command’s history, showcasing a significant financial accomplishment.

Babajide Jaiyeoba, the Customs Area Controller of the command, attributed this unprecedented success to factors such as teamwork, system audit, compliance, and a commitment to zero compromise.

In a further remarkable feat, the command achieved a daily revenue collection of N11.3 billion on November 22, surpassing the previous highest daily collection of N10 billion on August 3, 2023.

Jaiyeoba commended the dedication of the command’s officers, emphasizing that the recent achievements should motivate them to continue their hard work.

He stressed the importance of justifying the confidence placed in the Nigeria Customs Service by the Federal Government and meeting the expectations of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.

The Customs Area Controller urged members of the port community, including importers, licensed customs agents, chandlers, haulage operators, and freight forwarders, to view compliance and obedience to laws as essential civic responsibilities.

Also, Jaiyeoba expressed openness to dialogue and suggestions for improving customs service delivery and achieving the Federal Government’s objectives.

While acknowledging the cooperation of various Federal Government agencies, Jaiyeoba urged sister agencies to adhere to standard operating procedures for seamless collaboration in realizing government goals.
