The Executive Chairman of the Courier and Logistics Management Institute, Professor Simon Emeje, revealed that Nigeria is yet to fully harness the immense potential of its logistics, courier, and transport industry, estimated to be around N3tn.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the forthcoming Courier and Logistics Management Institute International Conference and Investiture 2023 in Lagos, Emeje emphasized the untapped opportunities in this sector on a global scale.

“In contemporary times, the business of courier, logistics, and transport has become critical in national development. This prominence and the need to train and promote professionalism and certification in courier, logistics, transport, and management services have made it imperative to establish this institute,” asserted Emeje.

He underscored the crucial role of logistics in economic development, noting that as a country’s economy advances, it is propelled by the development of logistics.

According to Emeje, the logistics industry’s growth serves as the foundation for the development of other industries and infrastructure within the economy.

Highlighting the sector’s potential, Emeje stated, “The logistics, courier, transport, and management industry command an average asset worth over N3tn, presenting substantial potential for job creation.”

The upcoming CLMI conference and investiture will center around the theme “Logistics Solutions and National Infrastructure Development,” reflecting the institute’s dedication to exploring the pivotal role of logistics in addressing national infrastructure needs and fostering economic growth.
