N-Power Beneficiaries to Receive Eight Months of Owed Payments After Funds Recovery

In a much-awaited development, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has successfully retrieved funds that were held by the N-Power consultant for an extended period.

The recovery of these funds was confirmed by the National Program Manager of N-Power, Mr. Akindele, during a meeting with representatives of N-Power beneficiaries.

This positive announcement comes as a relief to countless N-Power beneficiaries, particularly those from Batch C, who have been awaiting their overdue payments for the past eight months. Mr. Akindele assured them that payment would commence soon, bringing an end to their prolonged wait.

The National Program Manager emphasized the relentless efforts of Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in addressing irregularities within the N-Power scheme and other social investment programs.

These irregularities have eroded the trust of the common people in the government’s capacity to provide a social safety net for its citizens.

However, Dr. Betta Edu, as part of her commitment, is taking decisive steps to rectify these issues and fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ mandate for Nigerians.

Many discrepancies had hampered the seamless execution of the program, and this included beneficiaries not receiving their monthly allowances, with funds being withheld by an outdated consultant responsible for managing the enrollment and payment system.

The successful recovery of these funds is indeed a welcome development, enabling the disbursement of payments to deserving beneficiaries.

The National Program Manager also highlighted that these corrective actions are part of a broader plan to create a strong foundation for the expansion of the Renewed Hope N-POWER program, with the ultimate goal of reaching out to five million young Nigerians.

Amid these vital reforms, he urged young Nigerians to exercise patience, emphasizing that the restructuring was a significant step forward and would significantly increase the program’s capacity to support millions of youth.

Furthermore, Mr. Akindele expressed President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to eradicating poverty and delivering on this promise.

As the government continues to work tirelessly to address issues and enhance the N-Power program, beneficiaries and the public can anticipate a brighter and more efficient future for social investments in Nigeria.
