Eko Electricity Implements Cutting-Edge Technology and Rapid Response Squad to Enhance Customer Service

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), a leading power utility firm, has rolled out a series of innovative initiatives.

These measures are designed to ensure swift responses to customer complaints and power supply outages, ultimately improving the quality of service.

EKEDC is harnessing cutting-edge technology and innovative processes to reduce electricity downtime significantly.

The company’s investment in electrical assets and advanced technologies aims to guarantee minimal to zero service disruptions. One notable development is the establishment of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), initiated by CEO Dr. Tinuade Sanda in April 2022.

The RRS operates under the Technical Operations department, responsible for tracking and resolving breakdown maintenance and faults within the stipulated Turnaround Time set by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Nasir Gbadegesin, Head of RRS, revealed that the squad’s primary goal is to ensure fault clearance and resolution within ten and six hours for 33 kV and 11 kV, respectively, as per NERC regulations.

Collaborating with various divisions, including Power System Control, District Operators, and Protection and Testing, the RRS swiftly responds to faults on the 33 kV feeder and assists the Breakdown Maintenance team at different districts to resolve issues.

Also, EKEDC employs predictive maintenance and advanced monitoring systems to continuously monitor the grid’s performance, identifying anomalies and fluctuations in real-time.

EKEDC’s commitment to customer-centric innovations and technology signifies a significant step toward providing reliable and efficient electricity services for residents in its service areas, including Agbara, Apapa, Ajah, Ijora, Ibeju, Festac, Lekki, Mushin, Orile, Ojo, and the Islands.

These measures reinforce the company’s dedication to meeting the needs of its esteemed customers while ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
