President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the new Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda as the Secretary of the Commission.
This decision marks a significant development in Nigeria’s fight against corruption.
Mr. Olukoyede, a seasoned lawyer and expert in regulatory compliance and fraud management, brings over two decades of experience to his new role. His extensive knowledge of the EFCC’s operations, having served as both Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Commission, makes him well-suited to lead the agency.
The appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Simultaneously, Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda, a seasoned public administrator with a strong financial background, has been entrusted with the position of Secretary to the EFCC.
His impressive track record, including experience in academia and banking, aligns with the agency’s mission.
President Tinubu’s decision underscores the government’s commitment to the fight against corruption and the broader Renewed Hope agenda.
With a reinvigorated leadership at the helm of the EFCC, Nigerians can expect a revitalized effort in combating financial crimes and ensuring greater transparency in the nation’s affairs.
As the new EFCC Chairman and Secretary prepare to assume their roles, the country anticipates an era of enhanced anti-corruption initiatives and a more robust institutional framework dedicated to upholding integrity and accountability.
This move is a clear indication of President Tinubu’s determination to root out corruption, ushering in a brighter future for Nigeria.
