Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) announced the appointment of Mr. Ahonsi Unuigbe as its new Board Chairman, effective September 27, 2023.
This change follows the retirement of Mr. Abubakar Mahmoud, marking a pivotal moment in NGX’s history.
Shareholders also greenlit the appointment of Mr. Jude Chiemeka as Executive Director and five Non-Executive Directors, strengthening NGX’s leadership team.
NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo) simultaneously welcomed Dr. Salamatu Suleiman as its new Board Chairman, effective September 30, 2023, succeeding Mrs. Catherine Echeozo.
Also, Ms. Ngozichukwuka Edozien assumed the role of Board Chairman of NGX Real Estate (NGX RelCo) on October 7, 2023, succeeding Erelu Angela Adebayo.
Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga, Group Chairman of NGX Group, expressed his delight at these appointments, emphasizing the leaders’ wealth of experience and their ability to drive the organizations toward greater heights. He thanked the retiring board members for their invaluable contributions.
Mr. Unuigbe, NGX’s new Board Chairman, acknowledged the weight of his new role and emphasized his commitment to building a stronger market, economy, and nation. He intends to foster reforms and deepen policy frameworks to bolster growth and development.
Mr. Unuigbe expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Mr. Mahmoud, for his exemplary stewardship.
