Dangote Industries Limited’s Subsidiaries Contribute N474bn in Taxes to Federal Government Over Three Years

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has made substantial contributions to the revenue of the Federal Government, remitting a total of N474 billion in taxes over the course of three years.

Dangote Industries Limited operates several prominent companies, including Dangote Cement Plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, and NASCON Allied Industries Plc, all of which are listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

An in-depth analysis of these tax remittances reveals that Dangote Cement Plc, Africa’s largest cement producer, accounted for a substantial 87.2 percent of this sum, contributing a total of N412.9 billion to the Federal Government’s coffers in taxes over the three-year period.

The two other subsidiary companies, Dangote Sugar Refinery and NASCON Allied Industries, also made significant contributions, remitting N55.38 billion and N5.39 billion, respectively.

A closer examination of the tax payments by Dangote Cement shows that it paid N97.24 billion in 2020, N173.93 billion in 2021, and N141.69 billion in 2022.

Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, emphasized the importance of timely and accurate tax payments, affirming that it is a responsibility for all individuals and corporations aspiring to foster genuine growth and development.

In a statement issued by the Corporate Communications Unit of DIL, Aliko Dangote underscored the essential role of tax collection in enabling the government to provide vital social services to its citizens.”
