Flutterwave Partners with Microsoft to Transform African Payments Landscape

Flutterwave, a leading African payments technology company, has joined forces with Microsoft to revolutionize its next-generation platform.

This collaboration will see Flutterwave leverage the power of Microsoft Azure to bolster the payments infrastructure across the African continent and beyond.

According to the company, this strategic alliance will provide businesses and individuals with unparalleled access to global-grade services throughout Africa, while simultaneously driving digital transformation on a global scale.

Therefore, this partnership with Microsoft solidifies Flutterwave’s commitment to facilitating seamless, reliable, and secure payment experiences and also will support the exponential growth of transactions processed on Flutterwave’s platform for esteemed global clients, including Uber, Netflix, and Microsoft itself.

The transition of key Flutterwave products such as Flutterwave for Business, Send by Flutterwave, Flutterwave Store, and Flutterwave for Fintech Platform to the robust Azure cloud platform signifies a significant milestone in the company’s expansion plans.

Utilizing the advanced capabilities of Azure OpenAI Service, Flutterwave will be able to scale its product offerings, catering to millions of merchants worldwide. This integration of Flutterwave’s cutting-edge technology with Microsoft’s comprehensive suite of services further amplifies the company’s mission to drive the transformation of global commerce.

Commenting on the new partnership, Olugbenga Agboola, the Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, said, “Microsoft has been an invaluable partner, providing a platform that allows us to deliver consistently high-quality services to our clients. As we manage high-volume payment processing, particularly during peak periods, the robustness, reliability, and scalability of Microsoft Azure become critical. As such, deepening our collaboration with Microsoft is the most logical step forward for us.”

Gurbhej Dhillon, CTO of Flutterwave, also expressed his excitement about the partnership and the possibilities it holds for the company’s growth.

“Our development on Microsoft Azure has set a strong foundation for Flutterwave. Their platform provides us with significant developer leverage, which we harness in service of our clients. Looking to the future, we’re excited about the possibilities of scaling with Azure OpenAI Service, which will enable us to serve even more merchants worldwide,” he added.

Mike Gaal, Microsoft Corporation General Manager, emphasized the long-standing support that Microsoft has provided to Flutterwave, stating, “We have proudly supported Flutterwave’s core operations with Microsoft Azure for many years. We are excited to further fuel their growth and innovation through this expanded collaboration. Our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
