The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted on Tuesday and Monday last week.

A total of 1,595,779 candidates registered for the examination in 708 CBT centres in 105 examination towns across the country.

However, the released results exclude candidates who have been rescheduled to take their examination on Saturday, April 6, those absent during the examination, candidates whose results are under investigation, as well as visually impaired candidates, which are undergoing processing.

To check their results, candidates who wrote the examination are urged to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number they used for registration. The result would be returned as a text message.

According to the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, the released results, when checked by candidates, would return the status of the candidates.

For instance, candidates who were absent or rescheduled, or those under investigation would receive the response “YOU WERE ABSENT, RESCHEDULED OR UNDER INVESTIGATION.” Therefore, only candidates who are not under any of these categories would receive a returned result.

It is essential to note that the UTME examination is a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Therefore, the release of the results marks a significant milestone for the candidates as they await their admission into their preferred tertiary institution. Candidates are advised to check their results promptly and take the necessary actions.
